The past few weeks saw the following results for University at Albany Sports:

Tuesday, April 28


Baseball fell in a midweek game to the Marist Red Foxes 10-5. Patrick DeSarno went 2-4 with an RBI. Cooper Loyal and Levi McCallister both went 1-3. Jaxon Mueller went 1-4 and drove in two runs. On the mound, six different pitchers saw action. Ryan Pitz went 2.0 innings and gave no runs and two hits. Victor Mazzara pitched one inning and allowed three runs on two hits. Tyller Kneller allowed one run on one hit in one inning of work. Zach Mravlja went 2.0 innings and allowed one run on one hit. Jameson Walsh allowed three runs in 1.0 inning. Zach Nalawadi went one inning and allowed two runs on three hits.  


Thursday, April 30


Men’s Lacrosse dominated the UMBC Retrievers 14-3. Ryan Doherty led the way with four goals. Silas Richmond had three assists. Brendan O’Keffe had three goals. Koleton Marquis has two goals and an assist. Jacob Smith grabbed three ground balls. Brady Smith made eight saves in net. 



Friday, May 1


Baseball fell to the UMBC Retrievers 11-5, Brian Guerrero went 2-4 and drove in three runs. John Vitucci accounted for the other RBI. Micheal Maggio was 2-5. Patrick DeSarno was 2-4. On the mound, Ethan Nardacci went 4.0 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. Christian Mello gave up seven runs on eight hits on 3.1 innings of work. Tyler Kneller pitched a hitless 0.2 inning.  


Softball swept a double header over the Maine Black Bears. 


In game one, the Great Danes bested the Black Bears 8-5. Katie Parisi had a monster game at the plate, going 3-4 and driving in four runs. Mary Kate Murrary went 2-4 and drove in a pair of runs. Julia Pike went 1-4 with an RBI. Taylor Quinn was 2-2. Hayley Wieczerzak pitched 5.0 innings and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out six. Hailey Wieczerzak went 2.0 innings and surrendered two runs on two hits. 


In game two, UAlbany emerged victorious 1-0. Ava Beal went 1-3 and drove in the only run of the game. Katie Parisi was 2-3. Mary Kate Murrary was 1-3 and Sara Anderson was 1-4. Julia Pike pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just three hits. Hailey Errichiello pitched a hitless inning to close out the game. 


Women’s Lacrosse advanced to the America East championship game with a 12-11 win over the Bryant Bulldogs. Paisley Cook put in a dominant performance, tallying two goals, four assists for six total points. Jaedyn Fink led the team in goals with four. Ravan Marsell and Mya Caroll each had two goals and one assist. Catrina Rowe had one goal and one assist. Grace Cincebox made 10 total saves in net. 


Saturday, May 2


Men’s lacrosse defeated the Vermont Catamounts 14-11 to win their third straight America East championship. Ryan Doherty had a monster game, tallying seven total points on five goals and two assists en route to being named most outstanding player of the tournament. Sillas Richmond also tallied seven points in the game, scoring four goals and recording three assists. Jackson Palumb scored three goals. Max Neeson grabbed six ground balls. Brady Smith put in a stellar performance in net, making 13 saves. 


Baseball topped the UMBC Retrievers 8-4. Cooper Loyal had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-4 and hitting a two run homerun. He reached 100 career hits in the game as well. Luke Fillipi went 2-4 and drove in two runs.  Micheal Maggio went 3-5 with an RBI. John Vitucci went 1-4. Levi McCallister was 2-5 with two RBIs. On the mound, Dylan Banner pitched a complete game, giving up four runs on seven hits. He recorded two strikeouts to reach 200 in his career. 


Softball completed a sweep of the Maine Black Bears by winning 11-3 in five innings. Katie Parisi went 1-4 with a three run home run and four total RBI. Sara Anderson was a perfect 3-3 and drove in two runs. Taylor Quinn went 4-2 and also drove in a pair of runs. Mary Kate Murrary went 2-4 and drove in a run. Sierra Roy was 1-2 and drove in the other Great Dane run. Hailey Errichiello pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits. Hayley Wieczerzak pitched 3.1 scoreless innings.  


Sunday, May 3


Women’s Lacrosse defeated the Vermont Catamounts 13-11 to capture their second consecutive America East championship. Paisley Cook put in an incredible performance, scoring four goals and adding three assists while tallying 11 draw controls. Maya Caroll scored three goals and added two assists. Ravan Marsell had a goal and three assists. Grace Cincebox made five saves. 


Baseball dropped the series finale 12-6 to the UMBC Retrievers. Levi McCallister went 2-5 and drove in two runs. Jaxon Mueller was 2-4 with an RBI. Micheal Maggio was 1-4 with an RBI. Both Tre Mariano and Brian Guerrero were 1-5 with one RBI. On the mound, Brian Cadieux went 2.2 innings and allowed five runs on four hits. Matthew Mariano would surrender seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings of work. Ryan Pitz allowed no runs or hits in 0.2 innings.
