On Tuesday Nov. 11th the University at Albany Men’s Basketball team defeated the SUNY Delhi Broncos 115-52.

UAlbany would come out of the blocks strong, as they would start the game on a 7-2 run, highlighted by a two handed slam from Okechukwu Okeke forcing SUNY Delhi to take a timeout early with 16:46 left in the first half.

This strong start would continue as the Great Danes pushed their lead to 19–7 by the 12:49 mark, while the Broncos struggled to find any rhythm offensively and committed several turnovers.

The Great Danes would continue to be all over SUNY Delhi, as a balanced attack on offense coupled with an ultra aggressive defense swelled the UAlbany lead to 35-14 with 7:51 remaining in the 1st half.

A barrage of 3 pointers from the Great Danes would lead to the score getting blown wide open, as UAlbany would lead 50-24 with 2:16 left to play in the 1st half.

The last part of the first half would see a 3 pointer from Jaden Kempson be the only scoring, as the scoreboard read 53-24 in favor of the Great Danes.

At the start of the second half, UAlbany would pick up right where it left off, as thanks in large part to an outburst of 9 points within the first 3 minutes from Amir Lindsey. UAlbany would be up 68-30 with 15:51 left in the game.

The Broncos would get a little closer to the Great Danes during the middle part of the second half, as the Great Danes became a little sloppy on offense with turnovers and miscommunication. The score would read 85-46 Great Danes with 7:28 remaining in the contest.

UAlbany would hit triple digits at the 4:54 mark, as Issac Abide would knock down a triple from the corner that sent the Broadview center crowd to its feet.

The record-breaking basket would be scored in emphatic fashion at the 2:22 mark, as Ife West-Ingram threw down an alley-oop from Nas Muhamd to score UAlbany’s 111th point.

When Amir Lindsey and Zacharie Matulu were asked about what this game meant for them and the team, they responded,

“Just momentum helping us with discipline, and it’s great to win,” said Zacharie Matulu.

On the score sheet, Amir Lindsey led the way with 19 points, while also being one of 3 Great Danes to record 7 assists. Zacharie Matulu recorded 17 points while going 3-5 from beyond the arc. Miles Rose added 14 points off of the bench on 6-8 shooting.

Matulu spoke of how his shooting lays down the foundation for the rest of his game.

“It opens up everything for me in practice, so putting up shots afterwards with my teammates like Amir and Wilkin Paulino every other day helps me a lot. Then everything that Amir does as a point guard like driving and kicking really helps me get my shot off, and if I do, then it helps him. He just makes us a better team overall.”

The Great Danes would score 4 more points in the remainder of the Game, and would emerge victorious 115-52.
