This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

Women’s soccer concluded their season on Thursday night against the Vermont Catamounts (10/30).

Thursday, October 30th
Field Hockey defeated the UMass Lowell Riverhawks 4-3 in overtime. Pilar Lorenzini notched two goals, as did Tessa Overgoor who scored the golden goal. Jenna Zunic tallied a pair of assists, while Indy van Ek and Mara Küskes had one assist each. The Great Danes outshot the Riverhawks 18-16. In net, Emma Peeters made 5 saves.
Women’s soccer ended their season with a 2-1 loss to the Vermont Catamounts. Flo Bartholomai scored the lone goal for the Great Danes in the 14th minute. Despite leading at halftime, Vermont scored twice in the second half to emerge victorious. The Catamounts outshot the Great Danes 23-4. UAlbany committed 10 fouls while Vermont committed 8. In net, Claudia Volino recorded 10 saves.
Friday, October 24th
Men’s and Women’s cross country competed in the America East Championships. Both squads recorded 9th place finishes to close out the season. Arianna Verardi led the way for the Women’s squad with a 52nd place finish in a time of 19:12.08. On the Men’s side, Nikolas Christian was the highest placed Great Dane in 52nd. His final time was 26:04.68.
Volleyball was defeated by the Binghamton Bearcats 3-1. Kendall Harris tallied 11 kills and 4 blocks. Shynelle Woroniuk led the Great Danes in kills with 18. Maria Olga Siapani ran the show with 51 assists and 5 blocks.
Men’s soccer lost a close match to the Vermont Catamounts 2-0. Rodrigo Hermelo, David Barkan, Jordan Shullenberger and Ethan Cook all recorded shots for the Great Danes. In total, Vermont outshot UAlbany 23-4. The Catamounts drew 8 corner kicks while the Great Danes drew 2. In net, Andrej Krivokapic made 9 saves.
Saturday, October 25th
Women’s rowing completed their fall season at the Heart of the Housatonic River. The two squads that competed in the varsity 8+ finished 10th and 14th respectively. In the women’s novice 8+, the Great Danes came in second, a little over 2 minutes behind the UCONN Huskies.
Football fell to the William & Mary Tribe 37-7. Jack Shields went 9-30 passing with 133 yards. Aiden Semo scored a touchdown on the ground. Tavahri Groves led in receptions with 5, for a total of 33 yards. On defense, Chris Gales led the way with 17 total tackles.
Sunday, October 26th
Field Hockey bested the Bryant Bulldogs 6-1 in the America East quarterfinals. Jette Kurz led the way for the Great Danes with 4 goals. Emma Staron added a goal and an assist. Tessa Overgoor was the other goalscorer for UAlbany. The Great Danes outshot the Bulldogs
21-5.
