This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

Men’s soccer fell to UMass Lowell in the America East Quarterfinals on Saturday (11/8)

Monday, November 3
Men’s basketball was bested 80-53 by the Marquette Golden Eagles in its season opener. Amir Lindsey led the way for the Great Danes with 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Okechukwu Okeke added 10 points and seven rebounds. Zacharie Matulu led the team in rebounds with 10 and also added seven points.
Tuesday, November 4
Field Hockey was defeated by the New Hampshire Wildcats 6-4 in the America East semifinals. Tessa Overgoor and Jette Kurz both scored twice for The Great Danes. The Wildcats outshot the Great Danes 19-16 in total, but UAlbany had the advantage in shots on goal 10-9. In net, Emma Peeters made three total saves.
Men’s soccer played to a 1-1 tie against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks. Tommy McFadden scored the lone goal for the Great Danes. Roko Branko Mrvelj and Alexander Clive each recorded assists. The Great Danes outshot the Riverhawks 16-5. Andrej Krivokapic made one save in goal.
Women’s Basketball breezed past Marist 74-46. Delanie Hill led the way with 20 points. Amaya Stewart impressed in her first collegiate game by putting up 17 points and recording four blocks. In total, UAlbany shot an impressive 55% from the field and knocked down nine three-point shots and also collected 33 total rebounds.
Friday, November 7
Women’s Basketball fell to the Syracuse Orange by a score of 64-45. Delanie Hill led the way for the Great Danes with 17 points. Martina Borrellas was the other Great Dane who scored in double figures with 15. She also led the team in rebounds with nine. Júlia Palomo Vicente topped the assists with six.
Saturday, November 8
Football dropped a close game to the Bryant Bulldogs 27-24. Jack Shields went 22-31 passing for 235 yards and a pair of Touchdowns. Aiden Semo added a rushing touchdown. Carter Moses had three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Griffin Woodell had 12 rushes for 50 total yards. On defense, Chris Gales led the way with 10 total tackles.
Men’s Basketball fell to the UMass Minutemen 83-62. Jaden Kempson scored 17 points on 45% shooting, while also contributing five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Zacharie Matulu had 16 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Men’s Soccer was defeated by the Umass Lowell Riverhawks on penalty kicks in the America East Quarter Finals. Alexander Clive converted a penalty kick, and Ivar Gissurarson scored a pair of goals. The game finished regulation tied 3-3 after UMass Lowell’s goalkeeper scored a tying goal in the 90th minute. The teams were unable to be separated in extra time and went to a penalty shootout. The Riverhawks would prevail on penalties 5-4 to advance to the America East semi-finals.
Sunday, November 9.
Volleyball was defeated 3-2 by the NJIT Highlanders. Maria Olga Siapani led the way with 42 assists and 17 digs. Anna Myhal led UAlbany with 14 kills. Kasia Barletta recorded 18 digs on the backline.
