This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

Tuesday, March 24


Baseball bested the UMass Minutemen 4-3 in their home opener. All four Great Dane runs were driven in by a Jackson Mueller grand slam, which was his first collegiate home run. Patrick DeSarno went 2-2. Levi McCallister, Kyle Stephens and Micheal Maggio all recorded a hit. In total, UAlbany finished with six hits. On the mound, Mark Gajowski opened the game and gave up two runs on two hits, and struck out four in 4.0 innings of work. Brian Cadieux went 4.0+ and gave up no runs while striking out four and picking up the win. Jameson Walsh picked up his first collegiate save, going 1.0 innings and allowing a run and two hits. 


Women’s lacrosse dropped a close game to the Syracuse Orange by a score of 10-8. Mya Carroll led the way, tallying two goals and two assists. Paisley Cook had two goals and an assist. Six different Great Danes recorded goals. In net, Grace Cincebox made a total of six saves. 



Wednesday, March 25


Softball earned a midweek victory 10-2 in five innings over the LeMoyne Dolphins. Kasey Conn had a pair of hits and RBIs. Kate Parisi also had two hits and had an RBI. Sara Anderson also had two RBIs. The Great Danes combined for 12 total hits. Hayley Errichielo pitched a complete game, going 5.0 innings and striking out five batters. 



Friday,  March 27


Baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader to the UMBC Retrievers. 


In game one, the Great Danes fell by a score of 2-0. Jaxon Mueller had a perfect game at the plate, going 3-3. Tre Mariano, Kyle Stephens and Levi McCallister all recorded hits. UAlbany combined for six total hits. On the mound, Christian Mello went 5.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four. Tyller Kneller pitched the final 2.0 innings of the game and allowed one run on two hits. 


In game two, the Retrievers bested the Great Danes 8-3. The UAlbany defense struggled, committing eight errors. Tre Mariano went 2-3 and drew a walk. Kyle Stephens went 1-1 with an RBI. Zach Mravlja had a hit and an RBI. Victor Mazzara accounted for the other Great Dane run. On the mound, Dylan Banner took the loss, going 6.0 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits. Ethan Nardacci went 2.0 innings and gave up three runs on four hits. Ryan Pitz pitched a scoreless inning to finish the game.  


Softball prevailed in a tight game with the UMass Lowell Riverhawks, 7-6 in eight innings. Taylor Quinn led the offense with a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Mary Kate Murray went 2-3. Sara Scozzari hit a walk-off single. In total, the Great Danes combined for nine hits. Hailey Errichiello went 4.0 innings, surrendering four runs on six hits while recording two strikeouts. Julia Pike went 4.0 innings and recorded the win. She gave up two runs on five hits while striking out four. 



Saturday, March 28


Men’s lacrosse remained perfect in conference play by besting the UMass Lowell Riverhawks 13-7. Silas Richmond once again led the way, tallying five points on three goals and two assists. Koleton Marquis added two goals and an assist. Will Hardy and Alex Pfeiffer each scored twice. Jacob Smith and Luke Grove tied for the lead in ground balls with three. Brady Smith recorded 13 saves on 20 shots. 


Women’s Lacrosse won a thrilling game over the Binghamton Bearcats, 12-11 in overtime. Jaedyn Fink led the way for the Great Danes, netting five goals and adding an assist for a total of six points. Paisley Cook scored the game winning goal in controversial fashion. The Bearcats attempted to call a timeout, however none of the officials granted the timeout, and Cook deposited home the goal from in close. Maya Caroll had a goal and two assists. Ravan Marsell dished out a team high three assists. Eight different players scored goals for UAlbany. Grace Cincebox made eight saves in net. 



Sunday, March 29


Baseball fell to the UMBC Retrievers by a score of 8-6. Patrick DeSarno had a strong game at the plate, going 2-4 with a pair of RBIs. Tre Mariano also went 2-4 and drove in a run. Jaxon Mueller took a 1-6 while driving in a run. John Vitcucci went 1-2, drove in one run and scored two runs. Zach Mravlja drove in the other Great Dane run. On the mound, Matthew Mariano went 6.2 innings while giving up three runs on eight hits. Ethan Nardacci went 2.0 innings, giving up three runs on four hits. Mark Gajowski pitched just 0.1 innings, and gave up two runs. 


Softball split a double header with the UMass Lowell Riverhawks. 


In game one, the Great Danes emerged victorious by a score of 8-0 in five innings. Taylor Quinn went 2-2 and drove in a pair of runs. Sara Anderson went 4-4 and drove in a run. Gaelen Kelly went 1-2 and had 3 RBI’s. Hailey Errichiello pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and recording four strikeouts.


In game two, the Riverhawks bested the Great Danes 4-3 in eight innings. Sara Anderson went 2-3. Kasey Conn went 1-3 and scored a run. Katie Parisi went 1-3 and drove in two runs. Mary Kate Murray had an RBI. Julia Pike pitched all 8.0 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and striking out five batters.
