This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

The UAlbany Women’s Soccer team faced off with UMBC on Thursday night(10/2).

Thursday, October 2
Women’s soccer lost a close 1-0 match to the UMBC Retrievers. Claudia Volino made 6 saves in net. Madison Hnis recorded the most shots for the Great Danes with 4. In total, UMBC outshot UAlbany 19-15 and 8-5 in shots on goal.
Friday, October 3
Volleyball was narrowly bested by the New Hampshire Wildcats 3-2. Shynelle Woroniuk notched an impressive stat line of 19 kills, 10 digs and 2 aces. Kendall Harris and Tori Wilson both notched double digit kills with 16 and 15 respectively. Maria Olga Siapani was a force on the offense with 50 assists. Brooke Malek had an impressive performance herself with 29 digs.
Field Hockey opened conference play with a 2-0 victory over the Maine Blackbears. Emma Staron and Jette Kurz both tallied goals for the Great Danes. UAlbany outshot Maine 10-7. In net, Emma Peeters pitched a 5 save shutout.
Saturday, October 4
Men’s Soccer got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory over the New HampshireWildcats. Ivar Gissurarson found the back of the net twice, while Rodrigo Hermelo scored and contributed an assist. The Wildcats out shot the Great Danes 13-7 overall, but Ualbany held a slight 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. In net, Andrej Krivokapic made three saves in the winning effort.
Football was bested in the Golden Apple game against the Stony Brook Seawolves by a score of 47-12. Colin Parachek played 3 quarters of the game at quarterback and went 5-18 with 82 total yards and an interception. Aiden Semo relieved him in the 4th quarter, and went 3-5 with 66 yards and a touchdown. Jasiah Barron tallied two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. Dillion Dunathan recorded 12 total tackles, and Balansama Kamara and Chris Gales both recorded a sack.
Sunday, October 5:
Field Hockey recorded their second shutout of the week, as they blanked the Colgate Raiders 4-0. Mara Küskes ran the show for the Great Danes as she recorded both a goal and an assist. Indy van Ek, Jette Kurz, and Pilar Lorenzini each tallied one goal. Emma Peeters and Nina Faupel both spent time in net, and combined made 7 saves.
Women's Soccer was defeated 3-0 by the Bryant Bulldogs. The Great Danes recorded 4 shots in the match while Bryant had 6. The Great Danes had 2 corner kicks while the Bulldogs had 0. Claudia Volino made a pair of saves in net.
Women’s Golf finished in 12th place overall at the prestigious Princeton Invitational. Mia Cepeda led the team with an overall finish of 40th place, and rounds of 75,75, and 78.
Women's Rowing had a competitive showing at the Head of the Riverfront. The Women's Open 8+ squad finished 10th out of 19 starters. The UAlbany A and B squads finished in 3rd and 4th in the 8+ Novice. In the Women's Open 4+, the Great Dane B squad came in 6th place, while the A and C squads finished in 12th and 15th.
