This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

Thursday, February 5thÂ
The UAlbany men’s basketball won a thriller over the Bryant Bulldogs, 65-63. Isaac Abidde led the scoring for UAlbany with 19 points, shooting 7 of 10 from the field. Amir Lindsey and Jaden Kempson each played the full 40 minutes, scoring 15 and 13 points, respectively. Kempson scored the game-winning basket with under 30 seconds remaining on a one-handed floater from close range.
The women’s basketball team fell to Bryant, 50-44 in a close game. Lara Langermann led the Great Danes with 12 points. Martina Borellas and Amaya Stewart tied for the team lead with 7 rebounds apiece. As a team, the Great Danes recorded seven total assists and four steals while shooting 13 of 50 from the field.Â
Friday, February 6thÂ
The UAlbany men's and women’s track and field teams competed at the Scarlet Knight Invitational, hosted by Rutgers.Â
The men’s team had three first-place finishers in the event. Tooni Ogunyeye topped the field in the 200 meter race, Nick Sealey emerged victorious in the 400 meter, and Jacob Smith set a program record in the mile, on his way to a first-place finish. The Great Danes tallied nine top-three finishes and 12 personal records.Â
The women’s team also had a strong showing at the Scarlet Knight Invitational. Ivanna de la Cruz Flores broke the freshman record in the 600 meter race, setting a time of 1:36:43. The Great Danes tallied four first-place finishes. Skyler Smith came out on top in the 800 meter while Arianna Verardi bested the field in the 1000 meter. Lalenii Grant earned first place in both the collegiate shot put and championship weight throw. UAlbany totaled 10 top-three finishes and 24 personal records.Â
Saturday, February 7th
The UAlbany women’s basketball dropped a 58-45 decision to UMass Lowell. Freshman Amya Stewart tallied a career-high 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting. Martina Borellas finished with eight points and a team high 10 rebounds. As a team, The Great Danes shot 18-58 from the field in the loss.Â
The men’s basketball team fell 89-79 to the UMass Lowell River Hawks. Amir Lindsey recorded 23 points and seven assists. Okechukwu Okeke recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. In total, The Great Danes shot 29 of 58 from the field.Â
