Wednesday, Feb. 25

Women’s lacrosse bested the Niagara Purple Eagles 14-9. Paisley Cook broke her own conference record, winning 21 draw controls. Zareena Sorho scored four goals to lead the Great Danes. Mya Caroll and Amanda Williamson each scored two goals. Kloey Roos recorded three assists. Grace Cincebox made seven saves. 


Thursday, Feb. 19

Men’s basketball fell to the Maine Black Bears 70-59. Issac Abidde and Amir Lindsey both finished in double figures with 18 and 12 points respectively. Okechuckwu Okeke finished with the team lead in rebounds with eight. The Great Danes shot 23-48 in total. 


Women’s basketball dropped a close game to the Maine Black Bears 60-59. Martina Borellas scored a career high of 23 points. Delanie Hill had 11 points. Bella Sturat led UAlbany in rebounds with eight. The Great Danes finished with 37 rebounds in total. 


Friday, Feb. 20

Softball dropped a pair of games in Madeira Beach, Florida. 


In their first game, The Great Danes fell to the Monmouth Hawks 5-4 in extra innings. Kaitlyn Parisi had a strong game at the plate recording three hits. Mary Kate Murrary had two RBIs. Five different Great Danes recorded hits. Hayley Wieczerzak pitched all nine innings in the game, and finished with 11 strikeouts.


In game two of the afternoon, UAlbany was bested 9-1 by the UIC flames. Katie Parisi hit a solo home run to account for the lone Great Dane Run. Sierra Roy, Deanna Grahek and Sara Anderson all tallied hits. Hailey Errichiello took the loss, going 4.0 innings and giving up eight hits, six runs and striking out two batters. 


Saturday, Feb. 21

Men’s basketball earned an 84-61 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats. Okechuckwu Okeke and Miles Rose tied for the team lead in points with 16. Amir Lindsey had 15 points while giving out a team high seven assists. Zach Matulu was the other Great Dane in double figures with 14. 


Women’s basketball dropped a close game to the New Hampshire Wildcats 45-42. Amaya Stewart led UAlbany in points with 19. Delaine Hill scored 12 points and grabbed a team high nine rebounds. Martina Borellas had four assists and four rebounds. 


Men’s lacrosse fell to the UMass Minutemen 15-9. Silas Richmond led the way with two goals and two assists. Brady Quill scored his first career goal, as did Mathew Pettis. In total, seven Great Danes scored goals. Brady Smith and Timmy Vine each saw time in goal. 


Women’s lacrosse came up just short losing to the UConn Huskies 12-11 in overtime. Paisley Cook tallied five points on four goals and an assist. Ravan Marsell had three total points. Six different Great Danes found the back of the net. Grace Cincebox made 12 saves in net while playing the entire game.  


Softball earned a split in their second day of competition in Madeira Beach, Florida. 


In the first game of the day, the Great Danes lost 6-0 to the Illinois State Red Birds. Kasey Conn recorded two hits. Katie Parisi and Mary Kate Murray each contributed one hit. Hailey Errichelo pitched a complete game and struck out three batters. 


In their final game of the day, the Great Danes earned their second win of the season by besting the Bowling Green Falcons by a score of 8-2. Sara Anderson and Kasey Conn each had two RBIs to lead the offense. The Great Danes recorded 12 total hits. Julia Pike pitched 5.0 innings and allowed just three hits. Hyley Wieczerzak closed out the game, and allowed just one hit in the final two innings. 


Baseball performed well, but ultimately dropped a pair of games in Greenville, South Carolina. 


In their first game of the day, the Great Danes fell to the James Madison Dukes 6-3. Kyle Stephens went 2-for-4. Patrick DeSarno recorded an RBI and scored a run. Cooper Loyal hit a triple and also tallied an RBI. Victor Mazzara drove in the other run for UAlbany. On the mound, Dylan Banner went 5.0 innings while giving up five runs on seven hits. Zach Nalawadi pitched the other three innings, surrendering one run on four hits. 


In game two, the Great Danes were bested by the Michigan State Spartans 4-1. Micheal Maggio had a strong game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Kyle Stephens scored the lone run for UAlbany and also had a double. Luke Fillipi drew a pair of walks. Christian Mello started the game on the mound for the Great Danes. He went 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out five. Ethan Nardacci went 3.2 innings while also allowing two runs on two hits and striking out five. Mathew Mariano pitched the final 1.1 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three. 


Sunday, Feb. 22

Softball concluded their Florida trip with a 10-0 win over the Bellarmine Knights. Mary Kate Murrary hit a home run and tallied four total RBI’s to lead the offense. Julia Pike had two hits and scored two runs. Kasey Conn and Kaitlyn Parisi each scored twice. Hayley Wieczerzak pitched a complete game shutout while striking out four. 


Baseball fell to the Illinois Fighting Illini 11-6 in their final game in South Carolina. Levi McAllister slugged a home run and drove in two runs. Kyle Stephens doubles and also had two RBIs Micheal Maggio accounted for the other two Great Dane RBIs. Cooper Loyal scored two runs. On the mound, Brian Cadieux went  4.0 innings, giving up five runs. Tyler Kneller went 2.0 innings and gave up one run. Mark Gajowski 2.0 innings and gave up three runs. Jameson Walsh pitched 1.0 inning.
